What is VOIP?

VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet protocol, is a protocol used for the transmission of voice through the Internet .VoIP refers to a way to carry phone calls over an internet protocol  data network, whether on the Internet or your own internal network. A primary attraction of VoIP is its ability to help reduce expenses because telephone calls travel over the data network rather than the phone company's network.

A category of hardware and software that enables people to use the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls by sending voice data in packets using IP rather than by traditional circuit switching transmission media.

VOIP has become a very popular  method of communication in the modern world, especially in sales-oriented jobs. It has been integrated mostly for business purposes to replace conventional phone calls.
